Trailer

You accidentally took the place of a psychic. It is your turn to help goofy villagers. Watch out for the strange items you have in the shop!

I. Game concept:

Merci Madame Irma is a humoristic interractive fable.  The player embodies a young man that arrives in a strange little village. After some unfortunate events, he has to hold a little magic shop. Clients from the village come to the shop to share their problems, and the player helps them by giving magic items that can have unexpected effects. The game has high replayability due to multiple paths and scenarios.

II. Personal contribution

This project was created by a team of 4 game designers and 8 game artists. While the design team was in charge of narrative design and code, artists had to make all the assets.
After the project started, I defined characters, magic objects, and events with my 3 game designers teammates. We agreed on a "tree" narrative structure.
With the "dialog system" plug-in, I premade an empty template ready to receive the dialogs my team was writing. Each event and dialog is stored inside and called when the player makes important choices. All my team had to do was copy and paste their work into empty dialog boxes. I also made all the adaptative placeholders that make different characters spawn or activate interactable magic items.
Aside from dialogs, I also implemented assets of game artists who were working with us.

III. Post-Mortem

This project was a trial for me due to the amount of work I had to do in a short amount of time. It required strong organization. The biggest challenge was to insure the coding of the project because I was the only one coding in the team. A few weeks after the start, we decided to change the game's event structure so I had to adapt the already-done system to the new version.
